The fact that the legendary Jack Nicklaus is the one who designed Springfield Royal Country Club should assure you that this golf course is well worth a play when you are in Hua Hin. The original 18-hole Nicklaus designed layout opened in 1993. In 2005, the additional nine holes opened, which are considered by many as even more challenging.
This championship course has hosted the Thailand Open and many other championships, so be warned, playing from the black tees is not for the faint-hearted.
Nicklaus doesn’t let you drop your guard for a second, so accuracy is paramount on every hole to avoid the large bunkers, ample water hazards and difficult roughs with mature trees. It offers excellent value for money considering the quality of the course design and with five tees to choose from it remains an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all standards. Many golfers recommend trying to play the A and C course sections to get the best of the old and the new design. There are six kiosks throughout the course as well, so there is plenty of opportunities to stay refreshed.
